GABRIEL MAGDALENO

Gabriel Magdaleno is a Mexican-American creative director, photographer, and multimedia artist known for his unique approach to blending fashion, art, and technology. With over 15 years of experience, he is recognized for combining visual storytelling with immersive digital experiences, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary media.

Raised in a matriarchal household in Southern California, Gabriel’s work is influenced by the strength and resilience of the women around him. Since relocating to New York City in 2008, he has focused on promoting inclusivity and challenging boundaries within fashion and digital media.

In 2008, Gabriel founded IN*TANDEM Magazine, a digital platform that became a key space for emerging talent in fashion, art, and culture where he innovated the execution of the first-ever video cover and interactive editorial layouts in the publishing world. A pioneer in digital content, Gabriel’s use of cinemagraphs has influenced the visual language of social media. By integrating interactive layouts and video covers—tools now common in digital media—IN*TANDEM helped connect established artists with new creators, a concept central to Gabriel’s ongoing work of bringing together the artistic community across a variety of disciplines.

His long-term collaboration with Nomi Ruiz has resulted in music videos, editorials, and campaigns that have reshaped traditional views on fashion and representation. Their electrifying work together has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, V Magazine, Billboard, Paper Magazine, Interview Magazine, OUT Magazine, and many others, contributing to modern visual culture.

In fashion, Gabriel directed the spec commercial for Diane von Furstenberg’s first perfume launch in partnership with Sephora. Gabriel’s other work with key figures like LaQuan Smith and Martine Gutierrez further underscores his impact on the industry. He also collaborated with Jamie Clayton and Vivienne Westwood for a Global Fashion Exchange and Fashion Revolution Week campaign supporting climate activism.

Always remaining true to his cultural roots, Gabriel played an instrumental role on Zemmoa’s creative team, helping shape the career of Mexico’s first trans musician signed to a major label, Universal Music Mexico. He contributed to music videos, album covers—including one celebrated on billboards in Mexico City for her 2023 release—and contributed to Zemmoa’s ongoing brand development across Latin America.

His work across Los Angeles, New York, and Mexico City remains culturally resonant, commercially impactful, and forward-thinking.
